by Stormie Omartian

.

What is Emotional Health? Is having total peace about who I am, what I am doing and where I am going. Both individually and in relationship to those around me. Its feeling totally at peace about the past, present and future of my life. Its knowing that I’m in line wiht God’s ultimate purpose for me and being fulfilled in that.

Seven Steps to Emotional Health

Release the Past: Confess to God the times I have failed and release others that failed me by moving in full forgiveness

Live in Obedience: Understand God’s rule are for my benefit and try my best knowledge to live His way, knowing that every step of obedience bring me closer to total wholeness.

Find Deliverance: Recognise who my enemy is that separate myself from God or keep me from becoming all He made me to be.

Seek Total Restoration: Refuse to accept less than all God has for me and remember that finding wholeness ia an ongoing process.

Receive God’s Gift: Acknowledge the gifts God has given to me and take the necessary steps to receive them.

Reject the Pitfalls: Avoid or get free of negative traps and deception that rob me of life.

Stand Strong: Believe that as long as I stand with God and don’t give up.

Understanding the above with my mind will influence the state of my heart, which will affect my emotion and ultimately my entire life.

God has being so gracious .. for the healing and restoration found especially this week that I can be a whole person. I don’t have to live in fear, I don’t have to be depressed, I don’t have to feel inadequate, stupid or rejected. I dont have to put up with chronic emotional pain. Its possible to be free of all that.

Emotional wholeness is a process that involved changing habits of thinking, feeling or acting. The above steps are way of transformation of my inner being: that takes time

He restores my soul … Psalms 23:3

” But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds” .. Jeremiah 30:17

Someone first mentioned this book to me some time last year. A number of others in churchhave read it since then. As far as I know, the people who have read the book have found it encouraging and they especially like the way the author deals with the topics of suffering and forgiveness.

Me? I say “Don’t judge a book by its cover till you’ve read it”. So, the following review is just my personal opinion and you should read it to form your own… but if you do decide to read the book, I trust you will do so with an open mind.

Discovering God’s Will

Discovering God's Will - frontcoverWe need to be cautious about using success as the criterion for determining whether or not a decision is the will of God. Success is often misleading and so is failure. Success can make us complacent and proud; failure can inspire us to work harder to accomplish our goals.

As I was reading this book, Discovering God’s Will written by Jerry Sittser, I am reminded of God’s mercy and grace. Knowing His will is when we have the grace to struggle on without bitterness in the face of difficulties and frustration.
